SEPTEMBER DAWN with Jon Voight —-

“A shocking piece of history about a particularly vicious religious war fought right here on American soil …told with artistry, conviction, power, and entertainment value.  It opens your eyes and packs a wallop!”

I grew up in the Mormon church. I was never told about this story. I went to church several times a week for many years, and was never told this story. Why ?

Evangelical Christian Takeover of Military

The Evangelical Christian Takeover of

the Military

“I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.  …”
–Oath of Office

“Our mission is to educate, train, and inspire men and women to become officers of character motivated to lead the United States Air Force in service to our nation.”
–Air Force Academy mission statement

“We will not lie, steal, or cheat. …”
–Air Force Academy honor code

“Military professionals must remember that religious choice is a matter of individual conscience. Professionals, and especially commanders, must not take it upon themselves to change or coercively influence the religious views of subordinates.”
–Religious Toleration (Air Force Code of Ethics, 1997)

Forty-two years ago, at the age of 18, I took the oath of office on my first day as an Air Force Academy cadet.  The mission of the academy was not only to train future leaders for the Air Force but for America as well, because, in the end, most academy graduates do not serve full military careers.  The honor code became an integral part of everyday life.  These are the values that I, and most graduates of the 1960s and early ’70s, took with us from our four years at the academy.

I, as did many graduates, underwent pilot training followed by tours of duty in Vietnam. Like military men and women of today, we did our best to become technically competent and professional leaders.  Never, during my four years at the academy and subsequent pilot and combat training, was the word warrior used; nor, whether as a cadet or officer, did I ever encounter “Christian supremacist” rhetoric.

In April of 2004, my son, after receiving a coveted appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, asked me to accompany him to the orientation for new appointees.  This 24-hour visceral event changed my life forever, and crushed my son’s lifelong dream of following in my footsteps.

The orientation began with a one-hour “warrior” rant to appointees and parents by the commandant of cadets, Brig. Gen. Johnny Weida.  The fact that the word warrior had replaced leadership was a signal of what was to follow.  I later learned that cadets, to determine when a new record was established, had created a game in which warrior was counted in each speech Weida gave.

My son and I then made our way to the modernist aluminum chapel, where I expected to hear a welcome from one or two Air Force chaplains offering counsel, support and an open-door policy for any spiritual or pastoral needs of these future cadets.  In 1966, the academy had six gray-haired chaplains: three mainline Protestants, two priests and one rabbi.  Any cadet, regardless of religious affiliation, was welcome to see any one of these chaplains, who were reminiscent of Father Francis Mulcahy of “MASH” fame.

Instead, my son’s orientation became an opportunity for the academy to aggressively proselytize this next crop of cadets.  Maj. Warren Watties led a group of 10 young, exclusively evangelical chaplains who stood shoulder to shoulder.  He proudly stated that half of the cadets attended Bible studies on Monday nights in the dormitories and he hoped to increase this number from those in his audience who were about to join their ranks.  This “invitation” was followed with hallelujahs and amens by the evangelical clergy.  I later learned from Air Force Academy chaplain MeLinda Morton, a Lutheran who was forced to observe from the choir loft, that no priest, rabbi or mainline Protestant had been permitted to participate.

I no longer recognize the Air Force Academy as the institution I attended almost four decades earlier.  At that point, I had no idea how invasive this extreme evangelical “cancer” had become throughout the entire military, that what I had witnessed was far from an isolated case of a few religious zealots.

In order to better understand this shift to a religious ideology at this once secular institution, I called the Academy Association of Graduates (AOG).  Its response:  “We don’t get involved in policy.” What I didn’t know was that the AOG, like the academy, had affiliations with James Dobson’s and Ted Haggard’s powerful mega-churches.  When Dobson’s Focus on the Family “campus” was completed, the academy skydiving team, with great ceremony, delivered the “keys from heaven” to Dobson.  During some alumni reunions, the AOG arranged bus tours of Focus on the Family facilities in nearby Colorado Springs, Colo.  I also learned that the same Monday night Bible studies discussed at orientation were taught by bused-in members of these evangelical mega-churches and that some spouses of senior academy staff members were employed by these same religious institutions.  It seemed that my beloved United States Air Force Academy had morphed into the Rocky Mountain Bible College.

The academy chaplain staff had grown 300 percent while the cadet population had decreased by 25 percent:  from six mainline chaplains to 18 chaplains, the additional 12 all evangelical.  The academy even gained 25 reserve chaplains, also nonexistent in earlier times, for a total of 43 chaplains for about 4,000 cadets, or one chaplain for every 100 cadets.

In the following weeks, a uniformed Army Maj. Gen. William Boykin began sharing his Christian supremacist views from church pulpits around the country, declaring that he was “God’s Warrior” and that “America is a Christian nation.” He demeaned the entire Muslim world by stating that his God was bigger than a Muslim warlord’s god and that the Muslim’s god “was an idol.” He received little more than a token slap on the wrist.  At the time, Joseph Schmitz, then the Department of Defense inspector general (Schmitz is currently the chief operating officer of Blackwater International), found that Boykin had committed no ethics violations.

Days later, the May 10 edition of The New Yorker featured the Abu Ghraib torture article by Seymour Hersh, who more than three decades earlier had brought us the story of My Lai.

As a late critic of the Vietnam War, in which I lost many high school and academy classmates, I was skeptical and critical of the drum beat for war orchestrated by the Bush administration.  When then-Secretary of State Colin Powell again sold his soul in front of the United Nations and the world, the die was cast.  I say again because as a major on his second tour in Vietnam, Powell whitewashed reports of the My Lai massacre and attempted to discredit and silence those few, most notably Ron Ridenhour, who had the courage to get the story into Hersh’s hands.

These were some of my thoughts on the day my son had to decide whether or not to accept his appointment to the Air Force Academy.  It was a time in my life when fatherhood and truth were confronted with faux nationalism.  With tremendous courage and sadness my son declined his appointment and ended his dream–and my dream for him–to attend the Air Force Academy. Though deeply saddened, we were not sorry.

In what would have been my son’s academy summer encampment, chaplain Watties “suggested” that cadets return to their tents and tell their tent mates they would “burn in hell” if they did not receive Jesus as their savior.  At the same time, the academy commandant, Weida, made a habit of including biblical passages in official e-mails and correspondence to subordinates and cadets.  He had developed a secret “chant and response” with the cadets: When he yelled “Airpower,” the evangelical cadets in the know would respond “Rock, sir” in reference to the Bible story that Jesus built his house upon a rock.

Coincidentally, at this time and at the invitation of the academy, the Yale Divinity School was observing the pastoral care program for sexual assault victims at the academy.  Under the leadership of professor Kristen Leslie, the Yale team issued a stunning report on the divisive and strident evangelical pressures by leadership and staff at the academy.

The response from academy leaders was telling. They at first denied the reports of Watties’ “hell-fire” threats.  Under media pressure, they later claimed the violations were committed by a visiting reserve chaplain, when in fact they were by the recent Air Force Chaplain of the Year himself: Watties. In an interview after receiving his Chaplain of the Year award, Watties boasted of baptizing young soldiers in Saddam Hussein’s swimming pool.  It is difficult to think of more inflammatory and Crusader-like behavior in an Arab nation.

In response to the Yale report, the academy demanded that chaplain Morton denounce the report she had co-signed.  When she refused, she was transferred to East Asia, ultimately resigning from the Air Force in protest.  Morton was the only officer who put her oath of office “to support and defend the Constitution” above careerism.

Then-DoD Inspector General Schmitz, noted for his Christian supremacist rhetoric in the book “Blackwater,” sent a team led by evangelical “born again” Lt. Gen. Roger Brady to investigate the academy.  Schmitz had recently found no ethics violations in the actions of Gen. Boykin and allowed Boykin’s promotion to senior military officer in charge of Abu Ghraib, Guantanamo and “extraordinary rendition.” The “Brady Report” found the academy only to have an “insensitivity” problem.  Air Force Academy graduate Brig. Gen. Johnny Weida, “silenced” and removed from the major general promotion list, was secretly promoted with back pay the following year at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Following the release of the “Brady Report,” West Point graduate and Secretary of the Air Force Mike Wynne, ignoring the existing code of ethics, issued another “code of ethics” that allowed evangelical proselytizing.  A month later, in an effort to appease the religious right, Wynne issued an even softer “code of ethics.” Amazingly, Wynne’s document is in complete violation of the code of ethics issued in 1997 by Secretary of the Air Force Sheila Widnall prohibiting proselytizing by commanders and other officers.

The pre-existing Air Force code of ethics in The Little Blue Book states:

“Military professionals must remember that religious choice is a matter of individual conscience. Professionals, and especially commanders, must not take it upon themselves to change or coercively influence the religious views of subordinates.”

Here are just a few violations of that principle over the last three years: Academy football coach Fisher DeBerry hung a banner in the team locker room reading: “Competitor’s Creed: I am a Christian first and last. … I am a member of Team Jesus Christ.” Baseball coach Mike Hutcheon, recruited from evangelical Christian Bethel College, forced players to lead team prayer during practice.  When asked about locker room prayer in March 2007, Lt. Gen. John Regni, the academy superintendent, responded “we have chaplains that are attached to each of the teams and they are very important in that area.” In a July 12, 2005 interview with the New York Times, Brig. Gen. Cecil Richardson, Air Force deputy chief of chaplains, stated, “…we reserve the right to evangelize the unchurched.” For over a decade, the official academy newspaper ran ads stating: “We believe that Jesus Christ is the only real hope for the World.  If you would like to discuss Jesus, feel free to contact one of us!  There is salvation in no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved.” The ads were signed by 16 department heads, nine permanent professors, both the incoming and outgoing deans of faculty, the athletic director and more than 200 academy senior officers and their spouses.

Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, in just a few short years has received complaints from more than 6,000 service members and discovered church-state violations at the academies, at military installations in Iraq and around the world, and even within the inner corridors of the Pentagon.

In 2005, when Weinstein filed suit against the Air Force for constitutional violations of church-state separation, the House of Representatives, with little public notice, passed a chilling bill that undermines enforcement of the First Amendment’s separation of church and state. The Public Expression of Religion Act, H.R. 2679, provides that attorneys who successfully challenge government actions that violate the establishment clause of the First Amendment shall not be entitled to recover attorney’s fees. According to The Washington Post, the purpose of this bill is to prevent suits challenging unconstitutional government actions advancing religion.

In December 2006, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation brought media focus to the Christian Embassy Evangelical Organization and its now famous video, which clearly showed the egregious ethics and constitutional violations of several flag officers and the breadth of the problem.  Air Force Academy graduate Maj. Gen. Jack Catton, who suggested in the film that his religious beliefs trump country and his oath to the Constitution, was cited last year for sending e-mails to military subordinates and contractors advocating they vote for a particular candidate for Congress, arguing that there are “not enough Christians in Congress.” West Point graduate and Army Brig. Gen. Robert Caslen, who was filmed stating “We are the aroma of Jesus Christ here in the Pentagon,” is now commandant of cadets at West Point.  West Point graduate Army Brig. Gen. Vincent Brooks, another Christian Embassy star, was the “voice” and “face” of the press conferences at Qatar.  His office is famous for the creation of the “Rambo” Jessica Lynch fabrications and the manipulation of the killing of Pat Tillman into a recruiting and media event.  West Point graduate and evangelical Lt. Col. Ralph Kauzlarich, involved in the investigation of Tillman’s death, stated publicly that Pat Tillman’s family was not at peace with his death because they are atheists who believe their son is now “worm dirt.” Air Force Academy graduate Maj. Gen. Peter Sutton, assigned as the senior U.S. military officer in Turkey at the time the Military Religious Freedom Foundation brought the Christian Embassy into media focus, was questioned by Turkish officials about his membership in a radical evangelical cult.

Many are aware of the mercenary army, Blackwater USA, led by Eric Prince, former Ambassador Cofer Black and Joseph Schmitz, the same Joseph Schmitz mentioned above.  It is here where the ties become complex and suggestive of an even grander “crusade.”

As described by Jeremy Scahill in his book “Blackwater,” Prince, who attended the U.S. Naval Academy, comes from a wealthy theo-con family, is a “neo-crusader,” and a Christian supremacist. He has been given billions of dollars in federal contracts to create a private army.  COO Schmitz, another Naval Academy graduate, is a member of the Order of Malta, a Christian supremacist organization dating back to the Crusades, and happens to be married to the sister of Jeb Bush’s wife, Columba.  And Cofer Black, former coordinator for counterterrorism at the U.S. State Department and former director of the CIA’s Counterterrorism Center, who was quoted by the BBC as saying “Capture Bin Laden, kill him and bring his head back in a box on dry ice,” brings his own skill set to the Blackwater team as vice chairman.

The Christian supremacist fascism first reported at the Air Force Academy is endemic throughout the military. From the top down, there has been a complete repudiation of constitutional values and time-honored codes of ethics and honor codes in favor of religious ideology.  And we now have a revolving door between Blackwater USA, which is Bush’s Praetorian Guard, and the U.S. military at every level.  The citizen-soldier military dictated by our founding fathers has been replaced with professional and mercenary right-wing Christian crusaders in control of the world’s most powerful military.  The risks to our democratic form of government cannot be overstated.

This evangelical Christian supremacist fascism within our military and government is a cancer.  Officers, especially commanders, who violate the original code of ethics, must be rooted out of the military.  The undermining of the Constitution, especially by senior military officers, must end.

As I look back at my 30 years as an active-duty officer, two combat tours in Vietnam, decorations including air medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross, I realize that not once was my service in support or defense of the Constitution.  For the very first time, I am upholding my oath of office.

Why am I so sad on Thanksgiving.

Never before in my life has THANKSGIVING been so meaningless. Thanks to President Bush, Dick Cheney, and our United States Congress. As well as their Boss’s – who don’t appear to be the American People any longer.

A very sad sad day indeed.  But, the anchors on CNN are all smiles and giggles.  What seed is this?

I don’t expect Christmas to look much better.

If they see this, it will make them happy, so I will end it here.

Bless us all.

The End of America?

(christians listen up)

Naomi Wolf Thinks It Could Happen

By Don Hazen, AlterNet
Posted on November 21, 2007, Printed on November 21, 2007

If you think we are living in scary times, your worst fears may be confirmed by reading Naomi Wolf’s newest book, The End of America: Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot. In it, Wolf proves the old axiom that history does repeat itself. Or more accurately, history occurs in patterns, and in order to understand where our country is today and where it is headed, we need to read the history books.

Wolf began by diving into the early years leading up to fascist regimes, like the ones led by Hitler and Mussolini. And the patterns that she found in those, and others all over the world, made her hair stand on end. In “The End of America,” she lays out the 10 steps that dictators (or aspiring dictators) take in order to shut down an open society. “Each of those ten steps is now under way in the United States today,” she writes.

If we want an open society, she warns, we must pay attention and we must fight to protect democracy.

I met with Wolf to discuss what she learned while researching this book, how the American public has received her warnings, and what we can do to squelch the fascist narratives we are fed in this country each day.

Don Hazen: Let’s take up a big question first — your fears about the upcoming U.S. presidential election and what the historical blue print about fascist takeovers shows in terms of elections.

Naomi Wolf: We would be naive given the historical patterns to have hope that there’s going to be a transparent, accountable election in 2008. There are various ways the blueprint indicates how events are much more likely to play out. Historically, the months leading up to the national election are likely to be unstable.

What classically happens is either there will be a period of provocation, and we have a history of this in the United States — agitators who are dressed as or act like activist voter registration workers, anti-war marchers … but who engage in actual violence, torch property, assault police officers. And that scares people. People are much less likely to vote for change when they’re scared, and it gives them the excuse to crack down.

In addition, I’m concerned about the 2007 Defense Authorization Act, which makes it much easier for the president to declare martial law.

DH: Are you saying that they keep on adding coercive laws for no apparent reason?

NW: Yes. Why amend the law so systematically? Why do you need to make martial law easier? Another thing historical blueprints underscore is the hyped threat; intelligence will be spun or exaggerated, and sometimes there are faked documents like Plan Z with Pinochet in Chile.

DH: Plan Z?

NW:Yes, Plan Z. Pinochet, when he was overthrowing the Democratic government of Chile, told Chilean citizens that there was going to be a terrible terrorist attack, with armed insurgents. Now there were real insurgents, there was a real threat, but then he produces what he called Plan Z, which were fake papers claiming that these terrorists were going to assassinate all these military leaders at once.

And this petrified Chileans so much that they didn’t stand up to fight for their democracy. So it’s common to take a real threat and hype it. And close to an election it’s very common to invoke a hype threat and scare people so much that they will not want to have a transparent election.

Americans have this very wrong idea about what a closed society looks like. Many despots make it a point to try to hold the elections, but they’re corrupted elections. Corrupted elections take place all over the world in closed societies. Ninety-nine percent of Austrians voted yes for the annexation by Germany, because the SA were standing outside the voting booths, intimidating the voters and people counting the vote. So you can mess with the process.

One current warning sign is the e-mails that the White House is not yielding about the attorney general scandal. The emails are likely to show that there were plans afoot to purge all of the attorneys at once, like overnight. And then to let the country deal with the shock.

Now that’s something that Goebbels did in 1933 in April, overnight. He fired everyone, focusing on lawyers and judges who were not a supporter of the regime. So you can still have elections … in an outcome like that. If that had happened, if the bloggers and others actually hadn’t helped to identify the U.S. attorney scandal, and they had been successful and fired them all, our election situation would be different.

Basically we’d still have an election, but it is possible the outcome would be predetermined because it’s the U.S. attorneys that monitor what voting rights groups do, what is legal and who can decide the outcome of elections.

DH: Well there’s a lot of activity currently in terms of the Justice Department aimed at purging voters … reducing voter rolls … that’s an ongoing battle to try to keep voters eligible. Conservatives are always trying to reduce the electorate. By the way, are you familiar with Naomi Klein’s book The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism?

NW: Yes, and it all makes a lot of sense. And its certainly historically true. We’re in this post-9/11 period when there is a lot of potential for these kind of “shock therapy” things to happen, but virtually everything … has happened previously in history in patterns. It’s just the blueprint. It’s not rocket science.

I could tell last fall when a law was passed expanding the definition of terrorists to include animal rights activists, that people who look more like you and me would start to be called terrorists, which is a classic tactic in what I call a fascist expansion.

DH: Don’t look at me — I’m not a vegetarian. Just kidding.

NW: (Laughs) Right. It’s also predictive … according to the blueprint, that the state starts to torture people that most of us don’t identity with, because they’re brown, Muslim, people on an island. They’re called an enemy.

That there will be a progressive blurring of the line, and six months, two years later, you’re going to see it spread to others. … According to the blueprint, we’re right on schedule that this kid recently got tasered in Florida, I gather, for asking questions.

There was a study by people who pioneered tasers, and the state legislature supported it; a Republican legislator put pressure on the provost, who put pressure on the university, and then the police at this university implemented the taser use. So unfortunately, it’s likely that we’re going to see more demonstrators, typical society leaders, in a call to restore “public order,” leading up to the election. You put all those cases together …

DH: I want to shift gears a bit and ask you to talk about what the response to the book, what kind of people have heard you speak, and what kind of reactions have they had?

NW: I’m really gratified by the response to the book. I have found, with the book’s publication, though I’m not following everything that’s been written about it, that most of America gets it — people across the political spectrum.

All kinds of people, including very mainstream people. Republican people. Progressive. Libertarian. Very moderate people. Very conservative people. They are basically saying to me, “Thank you for confirming our fears and showing us how these things fit together, and what we can do about them.”

DH: I’m also interested in your process of deciding that you were comfortable in using words like “fascism,” “Nazism,” “Hitler,” “Mussolini.” Michael Ratner talks about it in the jacket of your book, when he writes: “Most Americans reject outright any comparisons of post-9/11 America with the fascism and totalitarianism of Nazi Germany or Pinochet’s Chile. Sadly, what Wolf calls the echoes between those societies and America today are too compelling.” At some point you must have come to this turning point in terms of the language — how far am I going to go, how am I going to talk about this? Was it a difficult decision?

NW: It was hard emotionally but it was unavoidable intellectually. The book actually got started with the influence of a holocaust survivor — a dear friend, who’s the daughter of two holocaust survivors from Germany. She basically forced me to start reading history.

Not the end or outcome. She was talking about the early years and the effects on rights groups, gay rights groups, and sexuality forums and architecture, At first I didn’t even want to draw conclusions, but my hair was just standing on edge.

When I saw that, then I went and read other history books, and looked at Stalin and Hitler, a real “innovator.” I thought If people want an open society, they need to pay attention.

You see the same things happening again and again and again. And historically people were really mislead and just reading kind of teaches us the blueprint. People use the same approach all over the world because it works. This is what they do.

Now we’ve just seen it in Burma. It is like clock work: monks in the street … and because I know the blueprint, how long before they start curtailing free assembly, shooting monks, and cutting off that communication? And two days later … you know what happened.

So intellectually I couldn’t avoid using the language. Now in terms of the word “fascist,” it’s a very conservative usage in the book. I used the dictionary definition. There are many definitions of fascism. And even fascists disagree with other fascists. It’s kind of like the Germans thought the Italian fascists weren’t butch enough.

DH: So the Italians were wussier fascists than the Germans?

NW: Exactly. It gets better. The definition is pretty straightforward: “When the state uses violence against the individual to oppose democratic society.” And that’s what we’re seeing.

And then looking back at Italy and Germany, which were the two great examples of modern constitutional democracies that were illegally closed by people that were elected … duly elected … most Americans don’t remember. Mussolini, a National Socialist, came to power entirely legally. And they used the law to shut down the law. So that’s what I call a fascist shift.

DH: So let’s talk about what could happen here. Is America in denial? Or is avoidance an attitude that seemed to be present in all historical examples? That people assume it’s not going to happen to them. Does the Americans’ denial at this point run parallel with the denial of Germans and Italians? Or do we have our own version of denial here?

NW: That’s a really great question; both are true. It’s really instructive to read memoirs and journals from Germany. People writing, “This can’t last … we surely will come to our senses”; “they can’t gain any ground in the next election … you know, we’re a civilized country”; “this is ridiculous, they’re a bunch of thugs; no one takes them seriously.”

History is particularly instructive in the early days of the fascist shifts in Germany and Italy, when things were really pretty normal. People go about their business, just like we’re doing now. It’s not like goose stepping columns of soldiers are everywhere. It looks like ordinary life. Celebrities, gossip columns, fashion, before getting caught up in a snare. People kept going to movies, worrying about feeding the cat. (laughs) Even while you watch the sort of inevitable unfold.

DH: And now in America?

NW: Right. So in some ways it is human nature to be in denial … but Americans have our own special version, which is profoundly dangerous. Europeans know democracies are fragile, and they could close. They had closed. Bismarckian Germany was not a democracy.

But here we’re walking around … we usually have that sense that somehow our air will sustain us, even when no one else’s air does. And we don’t have to do anything about it. We have this like bubble, that somehow democracy will just take care of us, and we don’t have to fight to protect democracy.

They can mow down democracies all over the world, but somehow we’ll be just fine. But what’s so ironic about that is that the Founding Fathers drafted the Bill of Rights in fear. They knew that you had to have checks and balances, because it’s human nature to abuse power, no matter who you are. They knew the damage that the army could do breaking into your home. … they knew that democracy is fragile, and the default is tyranny. They knew that. And that’s why they created the system of checks and balances.

DH: In your book, on page 36, you write in terms of the political environment we are in: “But we are not wracked by rioting in the streets or a major depression here in America. That is why the success that the Bush administration has had in invoking Islamofascism is so insidious. We have been willing to trade our key freedoms for a promised state of security in spite of our living conditions of overwhelming stability, security, affluence and social order.”How and why has it been so easy here in the U.S. in terms of taking away liberties?

NW: I assume you mean how did it succeed even though we don’t have Bolsheviks rioting in the street? Yes. I mean it is incredible looking back, but in a way it’s not. I mean 9/11 was a complete left brain shock. If we had had wars at home, experienced the kind of violence at home that other countries have, we would not have gone into shock … not have been willing to trade in our heritage in exchange for a manipulated false sense of security.

DH: Most people were not affected directly by 9/11 except traumatically by seeing it on the screen.

NW: Yes, but you can’t undercredit the incredible sophistication of the way the Bush administration manipulates fear. For example, the sleeper cells narrative, which is Stalin’s narrative, was totally made up.

And I give lots of examples in the book of alleged sleeper cells that never turned out to be the creepy, scary, nightmare scenario that the White House claimed they would be.

DH: In the book you say that fascists have great skills at changing public opinion.

NW: That’s correct. That’s exactly right. They’ve been very skillful at creating extremely terrifying narratives. And this is why looking at Goebbels is so instructive. Our leaders have been busy creating footage and sound bites that can be petrifying, and as a result, some of us live in a state of existential fear.

In contrast, in England and Spain, where they were hit by the same bad guys we’re fighting, they’re going after terrorists, but the population isn’t walking around in a state of existential anxiety.

Gordon Brown said it, “Fighting terror … well, terror’s a crime.” You can’t underplay how sophisticated the Bush team has been about manipulating our fears. And one reason we really can’t ignore is our home-grown ignorance. We now have two generations of young people who don’t know about civics. A study came out that showed that even Harvard freshmen really don’t understand how our government works.

And so we really don’t know what democracy is anymore. I had to do a lot of learning to write this book — I’m not a constitutional scholar. I’m just a citizen. And we’ve been kind of divorced from our democracy. We’ve let a pundit class take it over. Where the Founders wanted us to know what the First Amendment was and what the Second Amendment does for us.

So as a consequence we don’t feel the kind of warning bell of “Oh, my God, arbitrary search and seizure! That’s when they come into your house and take your stuff and scare your children! We can’t have that!”

Because there’s this class of politicians, scholars and pundits who do the Constitution for us, so we don’t bother educating ourselves. It’s hard to educate yourself now these days.

All of that plays into how easily we can be manipulated. We really don’t read history in America, so we don’t notice warning signals. We tend not to pay attention to the rest of the world or the past, so we don’t know what the classic scenarios are.

DH: In terms of your personal narrative, the kinds of books you’ve written about feminism and gender like the Beauty Myth, Fire With Fire and Promiscuities … this book seems pretty far a field. It seems like it would have to be a wrenching realization to lead you to read everything and produce the book. Was it traumatic?

NW: Well, I would say that it’s been traumatic.

DH: Is it because you are out there on the front lines now?

NW: That’s not the trauma. I feel like I’m living inside a consciousness of urgency and potential horrific consequences. And that is much more uncomfortable than living inside my prior being where I generally thought, “We’re living in a democracy where there are some annoying people doing the wrong things” kind of mindset.

But I know that there’s a “true consciousness” that we need to overcome the false consciousness. I know it’s the right consciousness to get the facts. And I guess what’s heartening is that a bunch of other people seem to be collectively entering this consciousness. They are saying: “My gosh, there is a real emergency here with very devastating stakes.” That is traumatic but necessary.

It is a loss of innocence to see how easy it is to degrade democracy. I certainly walk around with kind of hyperawareness tuned into, for example, the toll in Guantanamo and those children in Iraq. It doesn’t get covered well.

There’s basically a concentration camp being established in Iraq with children in it. And no one appears to be digging in to it …

DH: As we are coming to an end here, there are a couple of concepts I found particularly interesting in the book. One is when you talked about the “10 steps,” or the “blueprint” that fascists have used time and time again to close down democracies. You say that that these factors, ingredients, are more than the sum of their parts, which suggests a kind of synergy, “each magnifies the power of the others and the whole,” as you write.

You also write about the pendulum cliché, that we have this illusion through our history that the pendulum always swings back. But because of the permanent war on terrorism, that may not be true anymore. Can you say a little bit more about those two things, and how that might fit together?

NW: Well part of the illusion is created because it seems we are in two different countries, operating at home and abroad. For example, they can come at you, anyone and claim you’re an enemy combatant. They rendered people in Italy … they can render people all over the world. And they can put people like Jose Padilla in solitary confinement for three years, literally drive sane healthy people insane.

If the president can say, Well, “Don is an enemy combatant,” there is nothing you can do. It’s like “Tag, you’re it!” To that extent we can not be innocent. And then someone is in jail for three years without being able to see their families or have easy access to a phone.

If they can do that, the pendulum can’t swing, because after the first arrest, it generally goes in one direction, and according to the blueprint, the time has come for those first arrests. We’re having this conversation now, before these arrests. But if tomorrow you read in the New York Times or the Washington Post that New York Times editor Bill Keller has been arrested, the staff will all be scared, others will get scared. And people don’t understand that that’s how democracy closes down. And when that happens first, it’s the tipping point at which we think it’s still a democracy.

DH: That is when the rules have changed?

NW: Yes, and people need to believe and realize that that kind of negotiation is pretty much over. And there’s just the lag time, which is so dangerous, when people still think it’s a democracy, even while the martial law steps have begun. And that’s where we are at, unless we get it.

Because you know, Congress keeps saying, “Hello, we’re Congress.” You have to answer us when we ask for information. The president’s like, “Sorry, I’m ignoring you!” It starts becoming thinking like an abused woman, like: “Surely he’s going to do it right this time, surely he’s not going to do it again.” And he does.

It is my feeling that if Clinton, or any Republican, is nominated, then elected, there is no turning back. It’s over. It may be over already.

Why do you think they want to take away people’s guns.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. investigates the government

cover-up of a mercury/autism scandal

ROBERT F. KENNEDY JR.Posted Jun 20, 2005 12:00 AM

In June 2000, a group of top government scientists and health officials gathered for a meeting at the isolated Simpsonwood conference center in Norcross, Georgia. Convened by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the meeting was held at this Methodist retreat center, nestled in wooded farmland next to the Chattahoochee River, to ensure complete secrecy. The agency had issued no public announcement of the session — only private invitations to fifty-two attendees. There were high-level officials from the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration, the top vaccine specialist from the World Health Organization in Geneva and representatives of every major vaccine manufacturer, including GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Wyeth and Aventis Pasteur. All of the scientific data under discussion, CDC officials repeatedly reminded the participants, was strictly “embargoed.” There would be no making photocopies of documents, no taking papers with them when they left.

Backwards Alphabet: Jesus Christ = 666

Here’s how to do it. Using the backwards alphabet – Z=1,  Y = 2, X= 3, etc.  NOW ADD THIS PHRASE:  WHICH NUMBER REPRESENTS JESUS CHRIST.  Here’s how to add it.

Assign the right number to the right letters. Write the phrase out across a piece of paper.

Write the numbers under the letters.  Now add them across ONE DIGIT AT A TIME. Like this:

W   H   I   C  H

4    19  18  24  19

Add 1 digit at a time for a horizontal (h) read.

4 + 1 + 9 + 1 + 8  etc

Write your answer down.

Then add vertically, the way you normally would.

Now, add the h and the v together for your result.

This system is based on the CROSS NUMBER. (h and v)

Traditional numerology would have you add only vertically.

That was a great way to keep the truth from being seen.

You will find that the Backwards alphabet yeilds enormous

insight. Not only is it used, it is KEY.

Both alphabets work in tandem.  But don’t you find it interesting

that the regular alphabet does not result in:

There is a faction – as old as Moses and Abraham, who use

numbers – symbols and alphabets to communicate with each other.

The result – using the backwards alphabet is:   201223

THIS IS REALLY  2012 – 23

23 = BUSH  H

MORMON – using the backwards alphabet –  =

29 h  74 v  103  hv

This is the same exact string for JESUS when you use the

forward alphabet.

Shame On Chris Matthews

The debate illuminates the courageous honesty of candidate DENNIS  K  and the news media ridicule them. All the more reason to be suspicious of the news media. What is so odd about seeing UFO’s. An entire ship of Navy seamen saw them. And reported it. There are hundreds of thousands of reports of sightings from good and decent people. WHY is the news media soooo afraid to take on the topic honestly ? Hmmmm. Chris Matthews ridiculed Dennis K in front of millions of people, simply because he honestly stated he saw a UFO.

I’ ve seen two in my life of 50 years. And, I’m not a freak or an idiot.

Chris Matthews, you make me question what you want to hide?

What do you know that you aren’t suppose to share, that you would take such an

immature stance?

The New World Order Military- Blackwater?

October 6, 2007Blackwater or Bloodwater? The New World Order’s New World Military.

By Joe RathbunA sign at the entrance to Blackwater USA, in Moyock N.C., is shown in this Jan. 23, 2007, file photo. The Interior Ministry said Monday Sept. 17, 2007 that it was pulling the license of Blackwater USA, a security firm allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of civilians during an attack on a U.S. State Department motorcade in Baghdad. Interior Ministry spokesman Abdul-Karim Khalaf said eight people were killed and 13 were wounded when security contractors working for Blackwater USA opened fire in a predominantly Sunni neighborhood of western Baghdad. Blackwater: Water that contains animal, human, or food waste; any of several human or animal diseases characterized by dark urine resulting from rapid breakdown of red blood cells. (How fitting and I think they know it.)The “John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007” (H.R. 5122), which was signed into law by President Bush in October 2006, seriously weakens two bulwarks of liberty–the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act of 1807–by expanding the power of the president to declare martial law and use troops as a domestic police force in response to a “public emergency” or any “other condition”; and Blackwater troops (which were deployed domestically in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina) or other private mercenary and paramilitary forces pose a severe threat to the civil liberties of the American people and now could be deployed to quell public dissent, put down popular uprisings, or even to stop opposing points of view through intimidation or outright force.- Todd Beeton

The Army In The Shadows

Blackwater USA is the most comprehensive professional military, law enforcement, security, peacekeeping, and stability operations company in the world.

Blackwater USA comprises nine separate business units to offer the most comprehensive professional security, peacekeeping, and stability operations company in the world.

The NEW face of Democracy

To support security, peace, freedom, and democracy everywhere.
To support national and international security policies that protect those who are defenseless and provide a free voice for all with a dedication to providing ethical, efficient, and effective turnkey solutions that positively impact the lives of those still caught in desperate times.
Blackwater is committed to the foot soldiers — the men and women who stand on the frontlines of the global war on terror and who believe in a peaceful future for their communities and nations. Whether serving in or out of uniform, Blackwater is committed to providing these men and women with the very best in training and tactical support to ensure they are fully prepared to meet current and future global security challenges.- Blackwater USA website

I didn’t know everyone wanted their kind of democracy.

Turnkey solutions? Turnkey: (1) A person who has charge of the keys of a prison, for opening and fastening the doors; a warder. (2)(Dentistry) An instrument with a hinged claw, — used for extracting teeth with a twist. (3) Of or pertaining to a building, complex device, system, or industrial installation which is sold by a contractor only after it is ready for immediate occupation or use; fully functional and ready for use; — used of complex systems of a type which often require preparation or installation by the user before being capable of functioning as intended.

I wonder which one they mean? They all sound pretty bad to me. Jailer, pulling teeth, occupation….

They say “frontlines”. I thought they were back-up, security guards, cooks and dishwashers….that’s what they tell us.

Their mission statement sounds familiar. Sounds like Bush’s “mission accomplished” statement. Did Bush jump the gun? Did he put to much stock in Blackwater and their “statements”?

How about the laws regarding them. I wonder if he knows about that? Let’s see what he said to a student at Johns Hopkins in April of 2006 as reported by the Virginian-Pilot:

The issue of accountability for private military contractors has stumped many experts – including the U.S. commander in chief.During a Q&A session at Johns Hopkins University in April, a student raised the subject with President Bush. A transcript of the exchange, taken from the White House Web site:

Student: My question is in regards to private military contractors. Uniform Code of Military Justice does not apply to these contractors in Iraq. I asked your Secretary of Defense a couple months ago what law governs their actions. Bush: I was going to ask him. Go ahead. (laughter) Help. (laughter)

Student: I was hoping your answer might be a little more specific. (laughter) Mr. Rumsfeld answered that Iraq has its own domestic laws which he assumed applied to those private military contractors. However, Iraq is clearly not currently capable of enforcing its laws, much less against – over our American military contractors. I would submit to you that in this case, this is one case that privatization is not a solution. And, Mr. President, how do you propose to bring private military contractors under a system of law?Bush: I appreciate that very much. I wasn’t kidding – (laughter) I was going to – I pick up the phone and say, Mr. Secretary, I’ve got an interesting question. (laughter) This is what delegation – I don’t mean to be dodging the question, although it’s kind of convenient in this case, but never – (laughter) I really will – I’m going to call the Secretary and say you brought up a very valid question, and what are we doing about it? That’s how I work. I’m – thanks. (laughter)

Nope. Doesn’t seem like he knows much about that either. Well maybe it’s no big deal right? They probably don’t have much hardware. A couple of 9mm’s, I mean, they’re just security guards right? Well let’s take a look at what they have.

The Hardware

BUSA “Grizzly” APC
Grizzly APC

The leader in the high-threat security industry, Blackwater incorporates real-world lessons learned on the streets of Iraq and Afghanistan into all of our operations. Now, we’ve gone one step further.Blackwater presents the GRIZZLY™ – the world’s only Armored Personnel Carrier intended to counter the most lethal threats in the modern urban combat environment.

The GRIZZLY™ incorporates the Blackwater High Threat Armor Protection System TM (patent pending). This state-of-the-art technology is an exceptional armor system unmatched in the urban APC market. The Blackwater High Threat Armor Protection System is engineered to defeat projectiles up to .50 caliber and to provide an IED-survivable envelope.

We are committed to manufacturing excellence. We are dedicated to your safety in the field. – Blackwater USA websiteThis sure doesn’t look like the under-armored junk the military use. Of course, our military doesn’t have multi-billion dollar corporations backing it up, even though our government does.

Blackwater target system
Blackwater Target Systems

Welcome to Blackwater Target Systems, where we provide solutions for training and tactical challenges to the world’s law enforcement and military professionals, federal agencies and to civilian shooters. Our patent-pending “BEAR” system, “BEAR Trap” bullet containment system, and our “BEAR’s Den” Modular Shoot-House are the most innovative steel training solutions on the market, and supply the foundation to our indoor and outdoor range designs.

Our Chief Design Officer and Vice President of Facilities, spent 15 years designing, constructing, and maintaining the U.S. Navy’s most comprehensive and sophisticated ranges at Naval Special Warfare Development Group at Dam Neck, VA. From our “small steel” to our sophisticated movers, turners and modular shoot houses, he has lead the way in developing durable, practical, and cost-effective solutions.

This is what we do… And we do it very well.

“Train hard, or don’t train at all.”– Blackwater USA websiteHere are a few more facts about the “target systems” they have on their compound in Moyock, N.C., as reported in the Virginian-Pilot:

40 gun ranges: 8 have computerized or interactive target systems; one is 1,200 yards long, or 12 football fieldsR.U. Ready High School: police train at this 14,746 square-foot, multi-level mock school built after the Columbine shootings

Make-believe town: Half-a dozen or so plywood structures recreate urban-type terrain – an apartment building, church, warehouse. Blackwater has plans to build a 30-acre city that can be reconfigured to mimic any urban area.Ship trainers: two mock ships launch on a cable onto a 15-acre lake

Shoot houses: 2 live-fire, multi-level, steel houses with changable rooms Breaching facility: features areas for learning how to cut through fences, torch ship hatches, blow down doors and defeat locks.A High School and make-believe town (Anywhere,USA). This stuff is scary. Why in the world does a “security firm” need this stuff? They claim they use it to train our law enforcement and military. So I ask, are they training our guys or theirs? Here’s an excerpt from an article by Barry Yeoman:
BUSA mercs

At a remote tactical training camp, in a swamp 25 miles from the world’s largest naval base, six U.S. sailors are gearing up for their part in President Bush’s war on terrorism. Dressed in camouflage on a January afternoon, they wear protective masks and carry nine-millimeter Berettas that fire nonlethal bullets filled with colored soap. Their mission: recapture a ship — actually a three-story-high model constructed of gray steel cargo containers — from armed hijackers.

The men approach the front of the vessel in formation, weapons drawn, then silently walk the length of the ship. Suddenly, as they turn the corner, two “terrorists” spring out from behind a plywood barricade and storm the sailors, guns blazing. The trainees, who have instinctively crowded together, prove easy pickings: Though they outnumber their enemy 3-to-1, every one of them gets hit. They return from the ambush with heads hung, covered in pink dye.

“You had people hiding behind their teammates!” barks their instructor, Tony Torres, a compact man with freckles and salt-and-pepper hair. “That’s as shameful a thing as I can think of. That’s fucked up. That’s just fucked up.” When approaching a “bad guy,” Torres reminds them, a unit must move aggressively, fanning out to divert the terrorists’ attention. “You guys need to get your shit together,” he scolds. “There’s not a lot of cover in this structure. The only thing to do is move toward your threat.”

The men listen attentively. They know that Torres, a Navy vet, honed his skills during nine years in the service, performing search-and-rescue operations and providing nuclear-weapons security. But Torres no longer works for the military. These days he is an employee of Blackwater USA, a private company that contracts with the U.S. armed forces to train soldiers and guard government buildings around the world. Every day, the Navy sends chartered buses full of trainees from Naval Station Norfolk to the company’s 5,200-acre facility in Moyock, North Carolina. Last fall, Blackwater signed a $35.7 million contract with the Pentagon to train more than 10,000 sailors from Virginia, Texas, and California each year in “force protection.” Other contracts are so secret, says Blackwater president Gary Jackson, that he can’t tell one federal agency about the business he’s doing with another. – Barry Yeoman, Mother Jones Magazine

You have got to be kidding me! 3-1! These mercs are good. If our guys were half as good, Iraq would be a cake walk. It sure seems to me that Blackwater uses our guys for target practice, not training! So why the school, why the interchangeable city? If our sailors can’t overcome 2 mercs when they have 6 what do they need a whole city for? I know…

So now let’s see if Orwell was a prophet. Oceana here we are.

Blackwater Orwellian Blimp

Blackwater Airships LLC was established in January 2006 as the newest Blackwater venture — with a mission to build a remotely piloted airship vehicle (RPAV). Although seemingly different from the traditional Blackwater mission, this new venture to provide a persistent surveillance capability is fully consistent with the Blackwater goal of offering solutions which help to protect our forces wherever they are deployed and support our homeland security.

The Blackwater Airships team completed design work at the end of 2006 and is now building the Polar 400 airship. This highly capable RPAV will provide a platform ready to accomodate a wide variety of state-of-the-art surveillance, communications and detection equipment that can record and store events and downlink them in real-time to ground operators. The make-up of the mission payload of up to 400 lbs will be determined by customer requirements — whether for combat areas, port or border security, or coastal patrol.

The prototype Polar 400 is completing propulsion ground tests and when fully assembled will undergo test flights and then move into production by mid-year 2007. Following successful demonstration flights, Blackwater Airships will begin selling or leasing airships to Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and other government customers. The Polar 400 is designed to operate for 48 to 60 hours at altitudes from 5,000 to 15,000 feet. The unique design of the RPAV propulsion system will give it the capability to loiter over a desired location with excellent low-speed maneuverability, along with an ability to fly at up to 50 knots to move quickly to and from a target area.– Blackwater USA website

Well folks. I guess Mr. Orwell was right. “Seemingly different”? Well I’d say so Inspector Gadget! Needed you say? In the name of “border security”. Well here is an excerpt from an article from Mother Jones Magazine:

They provide armed guards at a U.S. Army base in Qatar, and they use live ammunition to train soldiers at Camp Doha in Kuwait, where a contractor, whose company ran a computer system that tracks soldiers in the field, was killed by terrorists last January. They also maintain an array of weapons systems vital to an invasion of Iraq, including the B-2 bomber, F-117 stealth fighter, Apache helicopter, KC-10 refueling tanker, U-2 reconnaissance plane, and the unmanned Global Hawk reconnaissance unit.

So if you don’t think it’s going to be used on us, why do they lie about the numbers if they have a computer system that can track soldiers on a battle field! They’re running around trying to hide! We’ll be sitting sheep! Same technology as a military unit. Hmmm. Wake up! It’s 1984! There is probably one of these things over your house right now! Tracking your movements, setting up their make-believe city to look just like yours! They’re using your money to spy on you “real-time” now by leasing these things to your government. Security, right. No thanks. And the list goes on…..and on…..and on.

BUSA Maritime

BMSS will also provide international anti and counter-piracy, and anti and counter-terrorism security programs led by the world’s finest maritime special operations and security professionals. BMSS will soon offer its complete tactical maritime security training services aboard fully operational maritime platforms. This capability allows BMSS to conduct real-world tactical training for maritime force protection units while underway, at anchor, or in port.

Heading this new service is Captain Tom Ridenour, Director of Maritime Operations for Blackwater. Captain Tom is a certified U. S. Coast Guard Captain and instructor. He brings with him over 25 years of international maritime experience.– Blackwater USA website

Whether you are moving cargo, passengers, or need a specialized aviation package, we can offer a tailor-made, competitive solution for your aviation requirements. For example, Presidential Airways currently operate CASA 212s in support of military freefall and static-line parachute operations, and cargo/personnel lift requirements for the U.S. Special Operations Command.

All operations are conducted by Presidential Airways. – BUSA website

And they have their own para-troopers as well. But they’re only “security”. What about K-9? That too. And they have their own mission statement as well:

MISSION STATEMENTUtilizing a wealth of exceptional experience Blackwater Canine will provide and execute the finest security services and solutions for our customers in support of Law Enforcement, Military and Commercial Organizations that strive for the leading edge worldwide.

The training staff is comprised of seasoned law enforcement K-9 trainers and handlers offering a total 110 years of combined K-9 experience. Managers of the training staff are all certified Master Trainers by the North American Police Work Dog Association or the Virginia Police Work Dog Association.Blackwater dogs go through an extensive testing, training and certification process. They must they be able to perform the mission they are trained for while of operating in diverse and sometimes hostile environments yet possess the ability to function socially among people.

Pseudo scent training aids are not used. Utilizing actual scent compounds. Explosive Detector Dogs must be capable of detecting a broad range of explosives which include but are not limited to black powder, smokeless powder, dynamite, C-4 or Flex-X, TNT, military dynamite, primer (DET) cord, surries or Water gel and Semtex.Blackwater’s training sites offer tremendous diversification affording wide-ranging environmental acclimation for dogs and handlers. Sites include urban areas which allow for live fire situations, buildings, and mutable vehicles, vast areas with varying terrain features for conducting tracks, tactical exercises and searches, aircraft and ship simulators to conduct K-9 maritime operations. -BUSA website

And these are just to name a few. Socially among people? A war-dog? 1 war-dog = 10 pit bulls. I’m sure they’re very sociable, with their trainers! For all you P.E.T.A. members out there, I wonder how these real scents affect the dogs? I’m sure it can’t be good for them.

So if the afforementioned isn’t enough, how about being able to build anything [jails and compounds], anywhere, any time. Meet Blackwater construction:

Raven Development Group (RDG) is a subsidiary of the Blackwater USA family of businesses. RDG got its start in 1997 by designing and building the world’s largest private tactical training facility; Blackwater USA. His Republican candidacy for nomination in 1999-2000 was a miserable failure. Widespread allegations exist that Bauer had an affair with a sweet young 26 year old staffer, not exactly in keeping with the whole family values thing. Nine members of his staff resigned over this scandal. Bauer has also accepted over $100K from the Moonie cult, and in seeming reciprocity, the Family Research Council has placed multiple advertisements in the Moonie-owned Washington Times. Birthplace: Stamford,CT
Gender: Male
Race or Ethnicity: White
Sexual orientation: Straight
Occupation: Greystone, ltd. Vice-chairman

Nationality: United States
Executive summary: Coordinator for Counterterrorism, 2002-04
For twenty-eight years a CIA career employee, Black was sworn in 3 December 2002 to the ambassador-level position of State Department Coordinator for Counterterrorism, in part a public relations position. Among Black’s earlier duties was hunting Osama bin Laden. He told CNN in 2003, “I guarantee you, this fellow will get caught like the rest of them.”

Black’s office came under fire when it grossly underestimated the number of terrorist-caused deaths in 2003, with Richard Armitage holding a prominent press conference announcing that the U.S. was winning the war on terrorism. Congressman Henry Waxman and others disputed the report as obviously in error, stating “it appears that the decline in terrorism reported by the State Department results from manipulation of the data, not an actual decline in terrorism incidents. This manipulation may serve the administration’s political interests, but it calls into serious doubt the integrity of the report.” Waxman was correct. A revised report released on 22 June 2004 to the Administration’s great embarassment raised the number of deaths from 307 to 625.

In 2002, he famously stated: “There was before 9/11 and after 9/11. After 9/11, the gloves come off.”

Blackwater USA is ready to shift from a security role to a more “overt combat role,” essentially becoming an army for hire.-statement by Cofer Black announced in a conference in Jordan in 2006-thinkprogress.orgSo with friends and family like these who needs a license? Blackwater doesn’t even need the government, only to collect our money to pay for their “services”. So let’s talk MONEY.

Blackwater makes a killing, literally and monetarily!

BUSA Headquartes Moyock

Blackwater’s success in procuring federal contracts could well be explained by major-league contributions and family connections to the GOP. According to election records, Blackwater’s CEO and co-founder, billionaire Erik Prince, has given tens of thousands to Republicans, including more than $80,000 to the Republican National Committee the month before Bush’s victory in 2000. This past June, he gave $2,100 to Senator Rick Santorum’s re-election campaign. He has also given to House majority leader Tom DeLay and a slew of other Republican candidates, including Bush/Cheney in 2004. As a young man, Prince interned with President George H.W. Bush, though he complained at the time that he “saw a lot of things I didn’t agree with–homosexual groups being invited in, the budget agreement, the Clean Air Act, those kind of bills. I think the Administration has been indifferent to a lot of conservative concerns.” – Jeremy Scahill/the Nation

Blackwater USA’s Gary Jackson said, “They’re paying us good money to go to places that are already ugly,” he says. “If it gets real ugly, that’s why they hired us in the first place.”

He also said, “When there is a crisis, they have a tendency to call us first.”

Government regulations state that agencies are allowed to bypass competitive bidding in cases of “unusual and compelling urgency.”

One scholar, Peter Singer of the Brookings Institution, suggests that Bush’s “coalition of the willing” would be more aptly described as the “coalition of the billing.”- Virginian-Pilot

“The trend is growth,” says Daniel Nelson, the former professor at the Pentagon’s Marshall Center. “This current president and administration have — in part because of September 11, but also because of their fundamental ideology — taken off constraints that somewhat limited the prior administration.” According to some estimates, private military companies will double their business by the end of the decade, to $200 billion a year. – Barry Yeoman/MotherJones Mag.

2006, according to an online government database, Blackwater alone has won $505 million in publicly identifiable federal contracts since 2000. About 2/3 of that amount was in no-bid contracts.

These types of military companies in business worldwide, secure an estimated $100 billion each year!

2003, Blackwater USA won a $35 million contract for their part in training our sailors each year in “force protection.”

Virginia Beach police and sheriff’s deputies train exclusively at Blackwater, where the city pays the company $450,000 for the full-time use of a firing range. The city’s SWAT team travels to Moyock once a week.- Virginian-Pilot

And the bills passed to us because of our governments “frat-boy mentality” keep on rising. Don’t forget Katrina now. In an interview by Alan Maass, Jeremy Scahill had a few things to say on the subject of Blackwater’s role in Katrina:

Maass: YOU WERE probably the first journalist to discover that Blackwater was on the scene in New Orleans, in the days right after Hurricane Katrina struck. How did you come across them?Scahill: BLACKWATER’S MEN actually beat the federal government, FEMA, the Red Cross and all these organizations to the hurricane zone.

In fact, I interviewed Cofer Black–the former head of counterterrorism at the CIA, and now one of the top people at Blackwater–at a mercenary conference, and he told me that they sent a helicopter and a bunch of their guys down there without any contracts at first. Clearly, they saw this as an opportunity to really cash in on the disaster of Katrina.

Within days of their guys deploying down there, Blackwater was handed a very lucrative $409,000 contract–literally to guard a morgue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Fourteen guys, four vehicles, for 22 days–and they were paid $409,000.That contract, which was not open to public bids, was awarded to Blackwater, and it would kick off a contract spree that in just four months would amount to over $30 million for Blackwater. They were billing the federal government some$950 per day per man in the hurricane zone, raking in at one point from the government, over $240,000 a day. I had Blackwater men who told me that they were getting paid $350 a day, plus a modest per diem. So that’s $600 that Blackwater had to play with, above what they were paying their guys.MAASS: HOW DOES the tens of millions that Blackwater is making compare to what is being spent in New Orleans on school reconstruction or affordable housing?Scahill: WE REALLY don’t know how much Blackwater has been paid. We know that they were paid

$30 million for the first four months. Well, now we’re nearing the first year anniversary of the hurricane, and we don’t have the updated amount of money that they’ve been paid. But this is just is just one company. There are scores of private security companies on contract with the federal government. This other company, DynCorp, is itching to get more of the action, offering their guards at $700 per day. There’s very little irony in all that, given that we’re talking about a place that has been utterly devastated, and people are being told that we don’t have the resources to rebuild their homes, and they’re going to have to live somewhere else in the country. Yet they have all the money in the world to pour into guns and mercenaries. – counterpunchGary Jackson testified before Congress, trying to get contracts from Homeland Security to train Border Patrol agents, saying Blackwater understands “the value of government one-stop shopping.” So, in so many words, he likened his company to the governments “para-mercenary/military 7-11!”

Good ol’ Obama said, in regards to the obscene amount of money paid to Blackwater for their role in Katrina, “It strikes me….that that may not be the best use of money.” No kidding Captain Obvious! And this guy is running for president?

Blackwater USA is one of five companies picked by the DOD Counter-Narcoterrorism Technology Program Office in a a five-year contract for equipment, material and services in support of counter-narcoterrorism activities. The contract is worth up to $15 billion. -Wikipedia

In 2003, Blackwater landed its first truly high-profile contract: guarding Ambassador L. Paul Bremer in Iraq, at the cost of $21 million in 11 months. Since June 2004, Blackwater has been paid more than $320 million out of a $1 billion, five-year State Department budget for the Worldwide Personal Protective Service, which protects U.S. officials and some foreign officials in conflict zones. In 2006, Blackwater won the remunerative contract to build and protect the U.S. embassy in Iraq, which is the largest American embassy in the world.- Wikipedia

According to Fast

The 5th Annual Fast 5011. Private Army

Blackwater’s revenue growth: 2002-05: 600% / 2006-08 100-200% annually

Given the statistics on military privatization, president Gary Jackson is in for a very strong (and long) decade.

And in finale to the money portion of this article, another protected U.S. Ambassadope to Iraq, Ryan Crocker said to the Senate: “There is simply no way at all that the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security could ever have enough full-time personnel to staff the security function in Iraq. There is no alternative except through contracts.”

More to this section: See the link below to a letter written by Rep.Waxman to Rumsfeld, the secrecy goes way beyond comprehension!

My Reality vs Their Myth

My Reality: Blackwater USA is a “private army.” – “This is a basically new phenomenon: corporatized private military services doing the front-line work soldiers used to do,” said Peter W. Singer, a national security fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington who has written the book, “Corporate Warriors”(Cornell University Press, 2003)Troops rely on private contractors to maintain 28% of all weapons systems and the bushites want to increase that number to 50%.

“There are some weapons systems that the U.S. military forces do not have the capability to do their own maintenance on,” says David Young, a deputy commander at the Defense Contract Management Agency. “When you take these weapons systems into a combat zone, is contract support still reliable, expecially if you are facing weapons of mass destruction? It’s a source of worry when you’re talking about chemical or biological weapons.”

MPRI (Military Professional Resources Inc.) says it can call on 12,500 vets with expertise in military operations ranging from nuclear operations to submarine attacks! The company’s CEO is retired General Carl Vuono, Army chief of staff during the 1st Gulf war and the invasion of Panama. Colin Powell described the General as “one of my dearest friends.” And these guys barely compete with Blackwater!

Daniel Nelson, a former Marshall Center professor said, “Someone at MPRI opens the Defense Dept. phone book and says, ‘Oh, so-and-so, I served with him,'” says Nelson. “He picks up the phone: ‘ Joe, remember me? I’m working with MPRI now. Hey, listen, bud, we have a real opportunity to go to Equatorial Guinea.’ Nothing more complex than that. It is a relationship based on years of camaraderie.”

I think Erik Prince has more camaraderie than this. He doesn’t have to call the DOD he calls the White House.

As far as contracts go with the DOD, Blackwater works around that by secretly subverting the system by working for Haliburton and the like. Check out this link to a letter written by Waxman to Rumsfeld, it will blow your mind: click here you read the document you will see how they have subverted our system, causing the reason for the “enormous costs” of this “war” and how we are paying for it and have been long before this war! More proof of the money they are cleaning us out of, spreading the gaps wider by overbilling and shilling us!Blackwater has been proven to have signed contracts with the Pentagon, the State Department, the UN, the OSCE, the African Union and even some NGO’s and the Red Cross.Even with all this their hardware speaks for itself in my book. They’re not an army all right….they’re better than ANY army! Better equipment, better training, and governed by no master except themselves.

Their Myth: Blackwater is a team of military and law enforcement veterans and other motivated, capable Americans who protect diplomats, provide training, and offer logistic services. Blackwater only conducts defensive missions and currently has no Department of Defense contracts in Iraq.- Blackwater USA websiteIn the Alan Maass interview Jeremy Scahill said, “I was just in Washington, meeting with some congresspeople, and one member of Congress told me that she’s not even allowed to see any of the contracts in general, but when she is, she has to go into a padded room. She’s not allowed to bring in any kind of writing equipment or paper, and she’s not allowed to say what she saw in that room after she’s viewed the contracts.

My Reality: Blackwater has well over 120,000 contractors deployed in Iraq.Their Myth:Blackwater has approximately between one and two thousand contractors deployed worldwide. The 100,000 figure is an estimate of the total number of contractors in Iraq for all companies, including dish washers, food servers, drivers etc., the majority of which are Iraqi nationals.- Blackwater USA website

Do I even have to comment? PLEASE! Yeah, dishwashers and cooks, to hear them tell it they’re just running a restaurant over there.

BUSA graph

My Reality: Most of Blackwater’s work with the U.S.Government is based on “no-bid” contracts that rely on political connections.- Hmmm. Where do I start? Oh yeah, I already did. MOST OF THE AFFOREMENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE STATES THE CONTRARY! Here is an excerpt from an article in Mother Jones Magazine:DynCorp, a Virginia-based military and technology company that receives more than 96 percent of its $2 billion in annual revenues from the federal government, wrote more than a dozen checks to the Republican National Committee over the past three years and made dozens of other contributions to key Capitol Hill lawmakers on committees that deal with defense issues. The firms also maintain platoons of Washington lobbyists to help keep government contracts headed their way. In 2001, according to the most recent federal disclosure forms, 10 private military companies spent more than $32 million on lobbying. DynCorp retained two lobbying firms that year to successfully block a bill that would have forced federal agencies to justify private contracts on cost-saving grounds. MPRI’s parent company, L-3 Communications, had more than a dozen lobbyists working on its behalf, including Linda Daschle, wife of Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle. Last year L-3 won $1.7 billion in Defense Department contracts.

The campaign cash and personal connections give private military companies an unusual degree of influence, even by Washington standards. In at least one case, a company has successfully shifted U.S. foreign policy to bolster its bottom line. In 1998, the government of Equatorial Guinea asked MPRI to evaluate its defense systems, particularly its need for a coast guard to protect its oil reserves. To do so, MPRI needed a license from the U.S. State Department. But the Clinton administration flatly rejected the company’s request, citing the West African nation’s egregious record of torturing and murdering political dissidents.

MPRI launched a full-scale blitz to overturn the decision, quietly dispatching company officials to work the hallways of the Pentagon, State Department, and Capitol. “This is the kind of lobbying that’s surgically executed,” says Rep. Schakowsky. “This is not something they want a wide discussion on in Congress.” MPRI’s executives argued that the United States should be engaging Equatorial Guinea, both to improve its record on human rights and to ensure access to its oil reserves. It didn’t hurt that the company could effectively pull rank, citing its extensive military experience. “Remember, these are high-level four-star generals, who can really make an argument that this is consistent with foreign policy,” says Deborah Avant, an international-affairs expert at George Washington University.

So what makes Blackwater any different? I think this kind of thing goes on more so with Prince’s company due to even better connections and more money than God!

Their Myth: Every one of our contracts was based on Blackwater’s merits and capability to do the job. No-bid contracts result from urgent and compelling needs of the U.S. Government; not political connections. The few contracts that were not bid account for only a few percent of our revenue—more than 90% of our contracts, and our revenue, came via competitive bidding.- Blackwater USA websiteWell I guess I stand corrected. (laughter)

My Reality: Blackwater contractors earn much more money than members of the U.S. Armed Forces.- In an article in 2006 by Bill Sizemore he stated:Private military contractors can earn substantially more money than members of the armed services.

A Government Accountability Office study last year found that contractors were earning $12,000 to $13,000 a month working on security convoys in Iraq and as much as $33,000 a month guarding high-ranking government officials.

That compares to $4,670 in monthly base pay and housing allowance earned by a typical Navy SEAL with 10 years of experience – the sort of person private military companies like to hire.

“The Navy will never compete financially with the civilian sector in sheer monetary terms,” said Lt. Taylor Clark, a spokesman for the Naval Special Warfare Command. But Clark said an assortment of extra incentives, including re-enlistment bonuses up to $90,000, have helped the Navy keep SEALs in uniform.- Virginian-Pilot

Military officials say assignments can pay from a few hundred dollars to as much as $1,000 a day. I know our guys doing the groundwork over there don’t make anywhere near this, since most of them are fresh out of bootcamp now.

Security contractors can also buy a $100,000 life insurance policy through the Uniformed Services Benefit Association that specializes in insurance for military personnel. Blackwater covers $361 of its contractors’ first annual premium.

Their Myth: Contrary to numerous media reports, no Blackwater contractor is paid $1,000 per day. Depending on engagement, contractors are paid between $450 and $650 per day. Blackwater contractors work temporarily and are paid only for the days they work, unlike members of the U.S. military who are paid a salary. Also unlike military members who enjoy a well deserved and rich benefits package, Blackwater security professionals receive only pay, no benefits. After paying federal taxes, including Social Security matching, and covering health care and retirement payments, private contractors’ take-home pay is often less than the full compensation package many U.S. servicemen earn when salary and benefits are included.- Blackwater USA website

Blackwater world

My Reality: Blackwater contractors are unaccountable under U.S. and International laws.- The Geneva Convention bans the use of mercs, so of course these companies don’t want to be known as “guns for hire.” Here is an excerpt from an article in the Mother Jones Magazine:When the companies do screw up, however, their status as private entities often shields them — and the government — from public scrutiny. In 2001, an Alabama-based firm called Aviation Development Corp. that provided reconnaissance for the CIA in South America misidentified an errant plane as possibly belonging to cocaine traffickers. Based on the company’s information, the Peruvian air force shot down the aircraft, killing a U.S. missionary and her seven-month-old daughter. Afterward, when members of Congress tried to investigate, the State Department and the CIA refused to provide any information, citing privacy concerns. “We can’t talk about it,” administration officials told Congress, according to a source familiar with the incident. “It’s a private entity. Call the company.”The lack of oversight alarms some members of Congress. “Under a shroud of secrecy, the United States is carrying out military missions with people who don’t have the same level of accountability,” says Rep. Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), a leading congressional critic of privatized war. “We have individuals who are not obligated to follow orders or follow the Military Code of Conduct. Their main obligation is to their employer, not to their country.” -Barry Yeoman

When Marine Col. Thomas X. Hammes served in Iraq in 2004 he ran into Blackwater executing a “mission”. “I was in an Iraqi army civilian vehicle at the time so we were treated as Iraqis” by the Blackwater contractors, Hammes said in an e-mail interview. “… The very act of guarding a principal – forcing his convoy through traffic, keeping all Iraqis away from the vehicle – irritated the Iraqis.” “The Iraqis perceived the armed contractors as being above the law,” he said. “They felt if a U.S. soldier or Marine did something wrong, he might eventually be held accountable for it. They believed contractors would simply fly out of the country…. They don’t seem to be held responsible by any authority.”

In an article written by BILL SIZEMORE AND JOANNE KIMBERLIN:Unlike military personnel, dozens of whom have been charged with crimes in Iraq, private contractors are not subject to the Uniform Code of Military Justice.

Chris Taylor, a Blackwater vice president, said the company doesn’t want its workers subjected to the military justice system because of possible “institutional biases” against contractors.

Under an order issued by Bremer that remains in effect, contractors are also generally immune from Iraqi law for acts performed while carrying out their jobs. Contractors might or might not be covered by civilian U.S. law, depending on which agencies they work for.

According to the Raleigh News & Observer, which reviewed voluntary reports filed with the government during a nine-month period in 2004-05, contractors fired into 61 Iraqi civilian vehicles.- The Virginian-Pilot

Accountable? To themselves.

EXCERPT FROM “ONLY THE JAILERS ARE SAFE”Published: December 20, 2006nytimes

On Monday, Michael Moss wrote about a U.S. contractor who was swept up in a military raid and dumped into a system where everyone is presumed guilty and denied any chance to prove otherwise.

Donald Vance, a 29-year-old Navy veteran from Chicago, was a whistle-blower who prompted the raid by tipping off the F.B.I. to suspicious activity at the company where he worked, including possible weapons trafficking. He was arrested and held for 97 days — shackled and blindfolded, prevented from sleeping by blaring music and round-the-clock lights. In other words, he was subjected to the same mistreatment that thousands of non-Americans have been subjected to since the 2003 invasion.

Even after the military learned who Mr. Vance was, they continued to hold him in these abusive conditions for weeks more. He was not allowed to defend himself at the Potemkin hearing held to justify his detention. And that was special treatment. As an American citizen, he was at least allowed to attend his hearing. An Iraqi, or an Afghani, or any other foreigner, would have been barred from the room.

Yesterday, David Johnston reported that nearly 20 cases in which civilian contractors were accused of abusing detainees have been sent to the Justice Department. So far, the record is perfect: not a single indictment.

Their Myth: Blackwater is accountable under the U.S. Constitution, international treaties, U.S. regulations, defense trade controls acts and numerous U.S. statutes.Specifically, the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) applies to contractors accompanying the total force and the Military Extraterritorial Jurisdiction Act (MEJA) creates jurisdiction for federal court trials. Any wrongdoing is covered under statutes such as the War Crimes Act, the Victims of Trafficking and Violence Protection Act, the Anti-Torture Statute, the Defense Base Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and many other domestic and international regulations. Blackwater advocates stricter enforcement of existing laws.-Blackwater USA website

Sure they are. I think with all the current events we know about, they most certainly are not accountable to anyone!

My Reality: It is “wrong” to have contractors working with the U.S. military.- Yes, it is unfortunate for our guys in the military to have to resort to using these mercs in the field. To have to look at the “above the military” hardware, hear about the mercs salaries, which far exceed their own, and the obvious “cowboy mentality” displayed, without accountability, that they [U.S. Military] themselves are accountable for, will make a huge dent in the soldiers’ morale. SO YES IT IS WRONG ON SO MANY LEVELS! Their Myth: Blackwater professionals are former servicemen and law enforcement personnel who continue to serve their country with duty and honor, selflessly placing their lives at risk to serve at the behest of the United States Government. Thirty of Blackwater’s contractors have been killed. No one who Blackwater has protected has ever been killed or seriously injured.-Blackwater USA websiteThey can’t even refute the statement that it is wrong! Instead they just throw more of their propaganda at you claiming statements that they won’t even release the statistics for. “At the behest of the United States Government?” I thought they had no government contracts in Iraq. They are for-profit so there is no voluntary “behest of the government”, it’s all under contract, seen or unseen.

My Reality: Blackwater’s CEO is a “Christian Supremacist.”Their Myth: Blackwater’s founder and CEO is a Roman Catholic. His views, which are hardly radical, are shared by over 1 billion Catholics worldwide. Blackwater employs people of many different religious beliefs.- Blackwater USA website

Roman Catholic? Focus on the Family, Promise Keepers, Holland Christian H.S.? These aren’t schools of thought by Roman Catholics. These are right-wing christian fundamentalist.

My Reality: Blackwater’s work in executing military coups world wide in dangerous places is it’s core competency.- Here is another excerpt from an article in Mother Jones Magazine by Barry Yeoman:The United States has a history of dispatching private military companies to handle the dirtiest foreign assignments. The Pentagon quietly hired for-profit firms to train Vietnamese troops before America officially entered the war, and the CIA secretly used private companies to transport weapons to the Nicaraguan contras during the 1980s after Congress had cut off aid. But as the Bush administration replaces record numbers of soldiers with contractors, it creates more opportunities for private firms to carry out clandestine operations banned by Congress or unpopular with the public. “We can see some merit in using an outside contractor,” Charles Snyder, deputy assistant secretary of state for African affairs, recently told reporters, “because then we’re not using U.S. uniforms and bodies.” Like the Clinton administration, the Bush administration is relying heavily on private military companies to wage the war on drugs in South America. Federal law bans U.S. soldiers from participating in Colombia’s war against left-wing rebels and from training army units with ties to right-wing paramilitaries infamous for torture and political killings. There are no such restrictions on for-profit companies, though, and since the late 1990s, the United States has paid private military companies an estimated $1.2 billion, both to eradicate coca crops and to help the Colombian army put down rebels who use the drug trade to finance their insurgency. -MotherJones

Sounds to me like the government only uses Blackwater and the like for these types of operations. Blackwater wasn’t a business in the spotlight before its supposed inception in 1997; all of the guys who run it were in all of these situations….good practice, no?

Their Myth: Blackwater’s core competency is in training military and law enforcement personnel. Our training facility in Moyock, NC existed long before the war in Iraq and has trained more than 100,000 military and law enforcement professionals since its inception.- Blackwater USA websiteMore like training their mercs in ways to deal with law enforcement and our military, in case of an uprising! My Reality: Blackwater lures people away from serving in the U.S.Military- “It’s not true. It’s an urban legend that’s been created by the media,” said Chris Taylor, a Blackwater vice president. “People leave the military for a wide variety of reasons. We’re not interested in luring people away from the military.”

As Blackwater’s Gary Jackson acknowledged in the Guardian, “If they are going to outsource tasks that were once held by active-duty military and are now using private contractors, those guys [on active duty] are looking and asking, ‘Where is the money?'”

In an article by Bill Sizemore:

Michael McKenna, president of International Brotherhood of Police Officers Local 412, said at least half a dozen Norfolk police officers have departed for Blackwater in the past two to three years. Most had 10 or more years on the force.

“They can offer them a whole lot more money,” McKenna said. “I’m sorry to see them go, but I can’t blame them when Norfolk’s paying them $30,000 a year. I think I’d go too.”

Spokesmen for the Virginia Beach and Chesapeake police departments said they also have lost officers to Blackwater.

The exodus extends across the country. Sheriff Elaine Savage of Bonner County, Idah o, said she has lost five experienced deputies to Blackwater and one of its competitors, DynCorp International, in the past two years. All five turned up in Iraq.

“They call it the Bonner County substation,” Savage said.

With her department’s typical salary of $43,000 a year, she can’t compete.

“They’re looking out for their families, but it makes it tough for me,” she said. “I have a tremendous investment in these guys, and it just walks away for $180,000 a year.”- The Virginian-Pilot

“We scour the ends of the earth to find professionals — the Chilean commandos are very, very professional and they fit within the Blackwater system,” Gary Jackson, the president of Blackwater USA, told the Guardian.

To meet the rising demand, the companies are offering yearly salaries ranging from $100,000 to nearly $200,000 to entice senior military Special Operations forces to switch careers. Assignments are paying from a few hundred dollars to as much as $1,000 a day, military officials said. – New York Times

Sheriff Susan Johnson of Currituck County, N.C., where the entrance to Blackwater is situated, said several of her deputies had been lured away by the company to work overseas.

”It’s tough to keep them when they can earn as much in one month there as they can in a year here,” Sheriff Johnson said.-New York Times

This “war” is not costing us for our military, it’s costing us our military! The grass is always greener……and in this case it’s green with money.

Their Myth: Blackwater does not recruit active duty military personnel. Blackwater encourages servicemen to remain in the U.S. Armed Forces. A recent GAO report found that private security companies such as Blackwater have had no measurable impact on military retention.- Blackwater USA websiteAgain I stand corrected. (more laughter)

My Reality: Tension is high and coordination is poor between military forces and Blackwater professionals deployed throughout the world.- I think it would be obvious to anyone who is half-heartedly paying attention to the world around them! Their Myth: Blackwater professionals, most of whom formerly served in the U.S. military, often serve in support of the U.S. military. Coordination between private security contractors and the military has greatly improved thanks to the U.S. Regional Cooperation Offices.- Blackwater USA websiteNot to them, I guess.

Blackwater USA

A couple more “facts” about Blackwater USA On any given day, as many as one thousand members of law enforcement from across the nation as well as members of every branch of the armed forces are training at our facility to better protect Americans at home and abroad.- Blackwater USA websiteI guess our law enforcement and military training isn’t good enough anymore.

Blackwater is not a “mercenary army.” We are a contractor for the U.S. Government that focuses on training and protection, not war fighting. All of our contractors are providing protection for people we are assigned to by the U.S. Government.-Blackwater USA website

Mercenary – a person hired to fight for another country than their own. They’re not mercenaries, they’re security guards.(even more laughter)The historic use of private sector expertise in support of the military in the U.S. goes back to the Revolutionary War.- Blackwater USA website

Mercs then, mercs now!

Blackwater lives its core values of excellence, efficiency, execution, and teamwork. In doing this, we have become the most responsive, cost-effective means of affecting the strategic balance in support of security and peace, and freedom and democracy everywhere.– Blackwater USA website

Cost-effective compared to what, Haliburton? If they’re cost effective I’d hate to see what’s not! And there’s the democracy everywhere statement again. It’s all over their site. Who are they trying to convince? It sure as hell isn’t me! While we are on the subject of “facts” about Blackwater, here is a real one:

BOY SCOUTSHeaps of brass shell casings jingle underfoot on Blackwater’s compound, remants of the countless rounds fired there. To clean them up, the company says it allows local Boy Scout troops onto the compound, where they collect the shells, turn them in for recycling and keep the proceeds. – The Virginian-Pilot

How long before they start using them as target practice?

So I leave it up to you to decide whether we should be taxed for the “war” to pay mercs like these. So I conclude this section with two quotes, one from a Blackwater merc and one from Jeremy Scahill during the interview with Alan Maass:

BUSA “Katrina Mission”

“This is a trend. You’re going to see a lot more guys like us in these situations.”-Blackwater merc commenting on Katrina

MAASS: CAN YOU talk how contracts like these are part of the drive toward privatization and the neoliberal agenda?Scahill: THIS BECOMES very frightening on a number of levels.

On the one hand, you have this happening across the board. For example, this administration is attacking the public school system–de-funding it, and putting resources in the hands of fundamentalist Christian schools instead of bolstering the public school system. You see the Wal-Martization of U.S. society.

And now you have contractors being used all over Iraq and Afghanistan. They are alleged to have been involved in the torture at Abu Ghraib. They have acted with impunity. Not a single contractor has been prosecuted for any crimes committed in Iraq.

So you’re left with one of two conclusions. Either they haven’t committed any crimes, which I think we have the evidence to show isn’t the case. Or no one’s paying attention to accountability issues right now.

Conclusion: A Fact and a Fiction

Bill Sizemore stated in an article in The Virginian-Pilot in 2006:

In the Philippines, Blackwater President Gary Jackson said, the company has acquired about 25 acres at Subic Bay and will have access to thousands of acres of adjacent jungle for conducting jungle environment survival training, known by the acronym JEST.

THIS FOLLOWING IS FROM THE WEBSITE the bill passed just before the November elections to fund the military? (“John Warner National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007” (H.R. 5122)) Well, hidden in that bill are provisions that seriously weaken two bulwarks of liberty–the Posse Comitatus Act and the Insurrection Act of 1807–by expanding the power of the president to declare martial law and use troops as a domestic police force in response to a “public emergency” or any “other condition”. Blackwater troops (which were deployed domestically in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina) or other private mercenary and paramilitary forces pose a severe threat to the civil liberties of the American people and now could be deployed to quell public dissent, put down popular uprisings, or even to stop opposing points of view through intimidation or outright force. These are bases of an invading force that is bent on stealing our country from us, right under our noses! CONNECT THE DOTS!

Blackwater USA, one of the largest private military contractors in the world, has proposed “Blackwater West” to be built in a valley just north of the small town of Potrero, in East San Diego County. The facility will comprise 824 acres, and includes a portion of the Cleveland National Forest. The valley is one of a chain of valleys starting in Descanso, part of the original two-million acre preserve originally designated by Teddy Roosevelt. Since then, it has been reduced to 650K acres, and swiss-cheesed with private ownership. This valley has been used as a chicken ranch.

The proposed boot camp will substantially develop the property and utilize it for target practice using pistols and carbines, a two-mile race track for emergency vehicle training, an 18,000 sqft armory (almost 1/2 acre of guns and ammo,) dormitories, mess hall, etc. The intention is to service 15,000 trainees each year (300 per week) with 60 staff in residence on site.

September Dawn: The Movie… don’t walk to see it

 September Dawn

Run, don’t walk to see this movie.  Hard to watch in places, but very well done.

A must see for anyone voting for Romney.

As someone whose family was kicked out of the Church of *Jesus Christ*  of Latter Day Saints, when I was 15-16 years old, I was very curious about the Meadow Mountain Massacres that took place on SEPTEMBER 11, 1857, exactly one hundred years from the year of my own birth in 1957. Being thrown out of a church didn’t feel very good. It was likely very difficult for my parents, who never did tell me what happened. It would be many years later that I would come to learn why. That is personal and cannot share it online.

I had no idea what was going on. But, overall, I didn’t feel too much pain. Just wonder as to what happened. We had been very devoted church goers for as far back as I could remember. My father was President of the Church Sunday School and my mother President of the Relief Society. I was in church many hours a week. We did family home evening on Monday nights, and I was in all the road shows. I traveled to Hawaii with my church youth group, and did quite a bit of public speaking as a youth.

I was baptized for the dead when I was 12, which use to haunt me until only recently, when I cleared the covenants I was used for. That was a deeply wrong situation to place a 12 year old girl in. I have written about this before, my time in the temple. I still can’t recall if it was the St. George Temple or the Salt Lake City Temple. But, I remember the ritual as if it were yesterday.  That aside, there wasn’t much to report that would cause me to be hateful or resentful, other than the excommunication. But, even that, feels like a blessing. I knew when I was very young, that there was no such thing as a *true church*. I might have been about 6 years old when someone said that from the pulpit.

I moved on after my parents were thrown out. I got into other things, and other friends, and began to enjoy the life I only looked on through Mormon windows for a long time .

I was without a church, but I was never without Jesus. I believed in Jesus, but never really missed the church for the next many years. Then, we lost our baby at 29 weeks, and that set me on a new search for truth, reason, explanation and more. We began to seek out different churches here and there, and read lots of material, in hopes of finding where we belonged. My parents passed during this time. My siblings would stay in the church although two of them came and went. Both are now active in the church. My brother was a Mormon Bishop of his community, and is very active.

It would many years before I would awaken. It happened during a major life crisis when my husband was laid off. He was unemployed for five months. We had little savings anyway, but we never expected he would be out of work for so long. He pounded the pavement every day. It was a very difficult time. We lost our home, our cars, and everything else. Looking back, I know why.

Fortunately, we were picked up in the arms of Angels and carried to the Berkshires of MA. where I came to face to face in the mirror with my own soul. My life would never be the same after that. In that furnished 1800’s farmhouse on the property of a Country Inn my husband was managing, I found a book of the owners on their shelf.

That book was Marianne Williamson’s, A RETURN TO LOVE. I read her book and felt a part of her soul.

I knew her. She knew me. Our paths crossed right on time. That was 2001.  For the last year, there were deep rumblings. Something was shaking – no doubt about it. The year 2000 was a real wake up call for me.

Looking back, I know why.

From there, I found ACIM, otherwise known as A Course In Miracles. That book saved my life. I learned so much from it. I began a deep study and practice of the Course that would continue for about 4 years, until I finally understood it well enough to fly. I keep it close and refer to it when needed and is always saves me.

Then, I came across dowsing and reiki and then the new science. I was full of curiosity. Still am. 🙂

It’s been a glorious 3 years for me as I have blended everything I have ever been told, ever thought, ever pondered, ever rejected and absorbed. Full circle with my Self.  Feels sooooo  good to have some clarity.

Early this year I came across a new numerology system I was led to call JESUS CHRIST NUMEROLOGY.

It is a system built on the CROSS OF THE UNIVERSE, THE CIRCLE AND THE PYRAMID. It has shown me more about the truth in 7 months  than 40 years of study.

Back in March, I was learning some things about September 11, 2001. I saw too too many alignments with the LDS church. It was very odd. Then Bush’s bloodline includes the name Ephraim. (Mormons) At the same time, Mitt Romney was announcing his candidacy. Weird timing. Honestly, the timing was not only stunning, but troubling as I was calling up old memories I had buried and hadn’t looked at in my new found spirituality.

I then ran a search for September 11 plus Mormon, as I was looking for anything that might be out there on 911. Up pops up 911 from 1857 known as the MEADOWS MOUNTAIN MASSACRE.

The story took my breath away. I posted about it in my 11-11 group. My friend then told me that there was a movie coming out on the incident called SEPTEMBER DAWN.  I have waited for several months for it to open. I went by myself.

This movie is very well done. Good direction, nice production value, and soulful story telling. The actors – though unknown to me, except one, were very good. 🙂  John Voight, who has been one of my fave actors for two decades, never falls short of a stunning performance.

Knowing what I now know, this movie was deeply moving for me, on so many levels. There is a lot of symbology present which makes me wonder if the movie maker also knows what I know.

It would be just too odd if it were coincidence.

The most interesting thing of this movie is the appearance of Dean Cain as the Mormon Prophet Joseph Smith. It was a cameo. But it appears it is the CAIN family who produces the film and directs. There are several Cain’s in the movie. The movie pulls no punches. At the same time, it is gentle – or at least makes an effort to be in many places, until it just can’t be. The truth is ugly and it must be told. What makes it odd, besides the word Cain, is the fact that he played Superman. The numbers for Superman are very closely aligned with the dark energies. I have written about this on my 11-11 group long before now. The movie poster for Superman Returns might as well read Antichrist Returns. Then, there was that funky incident with Terri Hatcher and George Bush Sr., where he slapped her bottom in the parking lot and it found it’s way on CNN.  She played Louis Lane to Dean Cain’s superman. So, there’s that.

The other striking thing was the name of the secondary character who was the lead’s brother. His name was Mica. he had a large role. They were brothers and son’s of the territory’s Mormon Bishop. John Voight was their father. He played a very interesting part. In the end, he turns very dark as he participates in his DUTY.  But, something happens in the end that you will want to see. I thought the name MICA was very odd. so, I got the urge to reverse it.

ACIM is the initials for A COURSE IN MIRACLES.

I have spent time wondering if there ever really was a Jesus. It is no accident – whether conscious intention or not, that this character is Mica. More than any other character in the movie, he personifies the themes in a Course, but not until the end. He mutters I AM FREE.

As I have said so many times, Jesus was not Jewish (per se). He was a critical prototype, used before, and again, designed and built by the Supernaturals, I call THE ANNUNAKI, or THE GREYS. There are many names. They had big plans for him. It was well planned, except for the awakening Jesus experienced. His mind came clear. But, like all of us, had a 40 days and 40 nights of introspection.

He had the true seed within his mind, even though his body was a model for the painful division of peoples and the ultimate destruction of mankind. He woke up from the dream. Through his forgiveness and awareness, that they REALLY didn’t know their God, therefore, what they do, we have been helped more than we know. When you pray to God, or Jesus, or Holy Spirit, from Love, you are tapped into Love. When you pray from fear, you tap the Gods of Fear, the Gods of the Earth. The Gods of the Milky Way. Yes, I have numbers to back it all  up. If you really want to know.

Mormon is really the Roman archetype with a shiny new name. Mormon also means more money.  The Mormon Church is the only church, according to my research that does not disclose it’s finances. They are said to have just surpassed the Catholics as the wealthiest church on earth. Not only that, they are in leadership propitiations in the CIA, Boeing and NASA. And through- Corp America. Most people are unaware. The LDS church has a very firm grasp on the wheel of this earth.

The Mormon church aligns with 123 132  231  and 77 88 – 177 and 188.  most deeply.

They claim the second coming of Christ comes to Missouri. Their Christ DOES come to Missouri.

I would not have believed any of this, if I didn’t see it in the numbers myself. I would have thought it was insane. It is insane. 🙂 That’s what makes it silly and humorous.

ACIM tells us to laugh at the silliness. I never understood it till now.

The reason they want many wives is for birthing many mormon sons. That is the goal, as is the stealing of souls through proxy baptisms. For some it is not possible. But for some, it is.

To fall asleep to your true identity. And when that happens, your soul is up for grabs. Soul = 22.

I will continue to share my findings. I don’t have time to put it all in one or 10 posts. But, know that you can do this system yourself and see it with your own eyes.

See the movie.

Gardasil Vaccine Not Safe For Girls (NVIC)

National Vaccine Information Center Criticizes
FDA for Fast Tracking Licensure

Washington, D.C. – The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) is calling on the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to just say “no” on June 29 to recommending “universal use” of Merck’s Gardasil vaccine in all pre-adolescent girls. NVIC maintains that Merck’s clinical trials did not prove the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine designed to prevent cervical cancer and genital warts is safe to give to young girls.

“Merck and the FDA have not been completely honest with the people about the pre-licensure clinical trials,” said NVIC president Barbara Loe Fisher. “Merck’s pre and post-licensure marketing strategy has positioned mass use of this vaccine by pre-teens as a morality play in order to avoid talking about the flawed science they used to get it licensed. This is not just about teenagers having sex, it is also about whether Gardasil has been proven safe and effective for little girls.”

The FDA allowed Merck to use a potentially reactive aluminum containing placebo as a control for most trial participants, rather than a non-reactive saline solution placebo.[1] A reactive placebo can artificially increase the appearance of safety of an experimental drug or vaccine in a clinical trial. Gardasil contains 225 mcg of aluminum and, although aluminum adjuvants have been used in vaccines for decades, they were never tested for safety in clinical trials. Merck and the FDA did not disclose how much aluminum was in the placebo.[2]

Animal and human studies have shown that aluminum can cause nerve cell death [3] and that vaccine aluminum adjuvants can allow aluminum to enter the brain, [4 5] as well as cause inflammation at the injection site leading to chronic joint and muscle pain and fatigue.  [6 7] Nearly 90 percent of Gardasil recipients and 85 percent of aluminum placebo recipients followed-up for safety reported one or more adverse events within 15 days of vaccination, particularly at the injection site.[8] Pain and swelling at injection site occurred in approximately 83 percent of Gardasil and 73 percent of aluminum placebo recipients. About 60 percent of those who got Gardasil or the aluminum placebo had systemic adverse events including headache, fever, nausea, dizziness, vomiting, diarrhea, myalgia. [9 10] Gardasil recipients had more serious adverse events such as headache, gastroenteritis, appendicitis, pelvic inflammatory disease, asthma, bronchospasm and arthritis.

“Merck and the FDA do not reveal in public documents exactly how many 9 to 15 year old girls were in the clinical trials, how many of them received hepatitis B vaccine and Gardasil simultaneously, and how many of them had serious adverse events after being injected with Gardasil or the aluminum placebo. For example, if there were less than 1,000 little girls actually injected with three doses of Gardasil, it is important to know how many had serious adverse events and how long they were followed for chronic health problems, such as juvenile arthritis.”

According to the Merck product manufacturer insert, there was 1 case of juvenile arthritis, 2 cases of rheumatoid arthritis, 5 cases of arthritis, and 1 case of reactive arthritis out of 11,813 Gardasil recipients plus 1 case of lupus and 2 cases of arthritis out of 9,701 participants primarily receiving an aluminum containing placebo. Clinical trial investigators dismissed most of the 102 Gardasil and placebo associated serious adverse events, including 17 deaths, that occurred in the clinical trials as unrelated.

“There is too little long term safety and efficacy data, especially in young girls, and too little labeling information on contraindications for the CDC to recommend Gardasil for universal use, which is a signal for states to mandate it,” said Fisher. “Nobody at Merck, the CDC or FDA know if the injection of Gardasil into all pre-teen girls – especially simultaneously with hepatitis B vaccine – will make some of them more likely to develop arthritis or other inflammatory autoimmune and brain disorders as teenagers and adults. With cervical cancer causing about one percent of all cancer deaths in American women due to routine pap screening, it was inappropriate for the FDA to fast track Gardasil. It is way too early to direct all young girls to get three doses of a vaccine that has not been proven safe or effective in their age group.”

The National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC), founded in 1982 by parents of vaccine injured children, has been a leading critic of one-size-fits-all mass vaccination policies and the lack of basic science research into biological mechanisms and high risk factors for vaccine-induced brain and immune system dysfunction. As a member of the FDA Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee (VRBPAC), Barbara Loe Fisher urged trials include adequate safety data on pre-adolescent children and warned against fast tracking Gardasil at the November 28-29, 2001 VRBPAC meeting .[11]
